Our impact

Patricia is in senior 2 a very good student in school and also a good soccer player. She lives with her single aunt, her mom left home when she was just a baby and her dad passed away. This is her third year with the Azira Micheal Youth Foundation, her Dream is to become a doctor because she has passion for helping others in need. She is in a boarding school and this helps her to focus solely on school. She plays for local soccer team mixed with boys because there is no girl’s team nearby.

Arafat has 4 siblings, lives with his single mom, he loves soccer, intelligent and very kind to other. This is his third year with the foundation, before we found him, he had to miss school to help his mom with selling bananas and tomatoes. But since we recruited him, now he stays at school and only comes home during school break. He is the only one who goes school in his family and his dream is to become a doctor.

Life has not been easy for Najib. A last born in a family of four became an orphan at an early age. He further says that he doesn’t remember how old he was when his father passed on. A young Muslim believer greatly believes that all his life has been a mystery, for reaching just primary four has not been a bed of roses. The mother is jobless and everybody is on their own in terms of survival, he says that he only runs to the academy coaches for survival. Najib has been with the Azira Micheal Youth Foundation for a year, we decided to put him in a boarding school to take him away from the stressful life at home so that he can focus on school. Najib’s dream is to become a professional soccer player after getting his education so that he can support his family.

Alice is a well-mannered girl who likes to help others and studying. Her favorite subject at school is math. When she is not at school she helps her mom with farm work and also help at the foundation. She lives with her mother because the father left them for another family. Alice has been staying at home since Covid because her mom could not pay for her school, she reached to our foundation and she was given a scholarship to return to school and she now aspires to become a math teacher.

Damalie is kind, hardworking, and smart. She has 9 siblings, her dad has two wives but he was thrown in jail and since he the bread winner of the family, Damalie was forced to drop out of school. We found her just in time after Covid-19 and we rewarded her a scholarship based on her determination, need and grades. In her family she is the only one who is attending school and all her siblings were taken back to the village to live with their grand mother as they work on the farm. Damalie’s dream is to be a social worker because she sees that there is so much need in her community mainly among girls like her.

Shema is a young energetic boy who loves soccer and school. He lives with grandmother since his dad passed away and his mother is not in right condition to take care of Shema. He has just been awarded the scholarship with the Azira Micheal Youth Foundation. When he is not at school, he helps with the house work at home and then comes to the foundation to learn more computers and reading. He dreams of becoming a doctor.
